Thoughtful and compassionate counseling with you in mind.

Therapist Amber Wonder

Hi, I’m glad you’re here.

Let’s be honest, searching for the right therapist can feel a little overwhelming, especially when anxiety or trauma has already made life feel like a lot. Maybe you’re looking for a therapist because something in your life feels overwhelming, confusing, or stuck. Maybe you're carrying around stories or experiences that have shaped you in ways you're just starting to unpack and you want to feel grounded, clear, and maybe even a little hopeful again.

You’re not alone.

My road to becoming a therapist wasn’t exactly a straight line—it’s had plenty of twists and turns and “there has to be more than this (!)” moments. I know what it feels like to crave something more genuine, more meaningful, more… you. And I believe therapy can be a place to connect with that version of yourself. You deserve a therapist who’s not just qualified, but real—someone who truly shows up with you.

I specialize in helping people build resilience, find clarity, and feel more confident navigating life with intention. My approach is holistic, compassionate, and collaborative. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and work to be culturally responsive and present for my clients with whatever they want to bring into session. Therapy is a collaboration built on respect, and everyone has their own unique story to tell. You don’t have to explain your identity or your values here—you belong. I use evidence-based therapies like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), CBT and mindfulness to help clients process past pain and reconnect with their values, clarity, and strength in the present. I also integrate the Gottman Method principles for those who want to work on their relationships—especially the parts involving communication, conflict and connection. If you’ve ever felt stuck in patterns you can’t quite name, we’ll name them together—and work to untangle them in a way that feels safe and doable.  Therapy should be a space where you feel truly seen—not judged, not fixed, but understood. My clients describe me as easy to talk to, attuned and engaged. We’ll laugh sometimes, but we’ll also get into the messy stuff. And we’ll work together to figure out what helps you feel more grounded, connected and aligned with your values.

As a counselor, I believe in practicing what I encourage in others—ongoing growth. I stay engaged in continued learning through trainings and workshops to keep my skills sharp and effective. I’m often buried in books and passionate about learning new things. (Speaking of, I’ve got an English Lit background, so if you enjoy a good metaphor or need a solid book recommendation, I’ve got you covered.) I earned my graduate degree in Counseling from Arizona State University, have been a therapist for over 16 years, and have been mentoring new therapists as a Clinical Supervisor for over 12 years.

When I’m not in the therapy chair, you can find me outside with a good book, testing out new recipes (with mixed results), or hanging out with my husband and our two dogs. I’ve lived in over 10 cities across the country—from New York to New Mexico—and now call Arizona home. I love exploring new cultures, new art, and new restaurants, and I still love the thrill of exploring a new place.

If you're looking for a therapist who combines real tools with real connection, who will walk alongside you without judgment and help you come home to yourself, I’d be honored to meet you.
